Walk through its streets, stroll while watching the boats, photograph yourself next to picturesque buildings or with the inhabitants of the city who often wear traditional costumes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Volendam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Volendam<\/a> is located quite close to Amsterdam on Lake Ijssel. It is known for its charming harbour, its fish trade, its authentic Dutch character and traditional costumes.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>What to see or do in Volendam?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Volendam&#8217;s pop music<\/strong> is known as the Palingsound (eel sound). Paling (eel in Dutch) is a reference to the eels that live in Volendam. In the <strong>Palingsound Museum<\/strong>, you will discover the distinctive features of this musical style.<\/li>\n<li>In the same building of the Palingsound Museum in the port, you will find the <strong>eel smokehouse<\/strong> Smit Bokkum, which belongs to the museum&#8217;s founder, Jan Smit. You can also admire ship models, paintings and other works of art.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Walk, walk and walk<\/strong>. It is a city to enjoy on a beautiful walk.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dutch clogs<\/strong> known in Dutch as klompen. In the <strong>Wooden Shoe Factory<\/strong> of the port, you will discover more about the manufacture of these comfortable wooden clogs.<\/li>\n<li>Holland and cheese are inseparable. You can also buy it here in Volendam, at the port, in the <strong>Cheese Factory Volendam<\/strong>, where traditional production methods are explained.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Experience Volendam<\/strong> show rooms from 1916, among other things, with a holographic projector, and a stormy boat trip from the same era in a virtual reality movie.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 And how about a photo dressed in traditional dress? This photo in costume is a beautiful <em>souvenir<\/em> that you can take home easily.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Volendam is a wonderful town in Holland to visit with Chap\u00edn.
