The city of the Papamoscas tastes like history and you can feel its cutting edge and historical characteristics in every square you visit.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the north of the Region of Castilla y Le\u00f3n lies this jewel city: Burgos. This location has always been known for its Gothic Cathedral, one of the most important in Spain and in Europe. However, Burgos is much more than just its cathedral. Its historical and architectural attractions are unquestionable, but, in addition, one of the most fascinating museums in Spain, the Museum of Human Evolution, has recently been created there<\/strong>. The people of Burgos have also increasingly put into more value their places and their promenade.<\/p>\n

What can we not miss when visiting Burgos in a couple of days?<\/p>\n

Burgos Cathedral<\/h2>\n

It is a World Heritage Site<\/strong>, the image of the city and its greatest attraction, but this Gothic temple dedicated to the Virgin Mary is essential to visit from inside. You should not miss its strengths and admire the Golden Stairs<\/strong>, the Condestable Chapel<\/strong>, the dome of the cruise<\/strong>, the Holy Christ of Burgos<\/strong>, the tomb of the Cid Campeador<\/strong> and his wife Jimena, and many other attractions in every corner of this temple. Just don’t forget that at every hour on the clock you should look for the Flycatcher<\/strong> (Papamoscas)<\/p>\n

Santa Maria Arch<\/h2>\n

A beautiful and old pedestrian bridge<\/strong> that gives access to what was the main gate of the old walled city, the arch of Santa Maria.<\/p>\n

It is not the only entry that remains out of the 12 existing one back at that time, but surely it is one of the most spectacular. It is full of statues that represent the Emperor Carlos V<\/strong> surrounded by the most representative figures in the history of the city. Today its interior hosts cultural exhibitions.<\/p>\n

Espol\u00f3n Walk<\/h2>\n

It is the most central and popular tree-lined and landscaped promenade in Burgos. It was created at the end of the 18th century, being configured during the 19th century, connecting the Arch of Santa Maria with the main Theatre<\/strong> and is considered as \u00abthe living room\u00bb of the city.<\/p>\n

Museum of Human Evolution<\/h2>\n

It is an essential and very interesting museum to visit<\/strong>. It contains some of the most important findings of the Atapuerca site, explaining the history and operation of the site itself, as well as the necessary elements to see and understand human evolution.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Royal Strike Monastery<\/h2>\n

Founded in 1187 by King Alfonso VIII, it is inhabited by the congregation of Cistercian nuns of San Bernardo. Inside, the church that presides it, the royal tombs, the cloisters<\/strong>, the chapter hall and the Museum of Rich Medieval Fabrics stand out<\/p>\n

Castle viewpoint<\/h2>\n

One of the most beautiful views of the city<\/strong>. You have to climb to the top of the San Miguel hill by one of its accesses and reach the viewpoint. In addition, if you want to visit the remains of the fortress destroyed by the French in the early nineteenth century you can access the enclosure, walls and underground galleries.<\/p>\n

Gastronomy<\/h2>\n

Castilian soup, black pudding, roasts and many tapas. The area of the plains is the area of tapas per excellence. In this area, we can recommend the Huerto del Rey square, Llana de Afuera and Adentro street, Cardenal Segura street and Fern\u00e1n Gonz\u00e1lez street.<\/p>\n
