We travel through the mills of Consuegra with Chapin Group´s bus. The Chapín´s bus goes on the road to visit one of the towns of Castilla-La Mancha, Consuegra.
We are going to Consuegra, a Spanish municipality in the province of Toledo and one of the touristic wonders of this province. It is composed of history, art and great monuments that integrate styles such as Roman, Castilian-Mudéjar or Baroque. Visiting Consuegra will be a different experience.
This municipality has more than two thousand years of history. All the cultures that colonized the Iberian Peninsula since pre-Roman times have been passing through it, leaving behind all the artistic and cultural heritage of the municipality.
One of the most important tourist attractions of Consuegra are its current twelve (thirteen formerly) windmills, declared of Cultural Interest in 2008. They were built at the end of the 18th century. It is located on the top of Cerro Calderico and maintains a good state of conservation. This visit will make us travel back in time
The Plaza de España is more than two thousand years old and is located on the old Roman Forum of the city. Here there are several events such as the celebration of the Rose of the Saffron, Medieval Consuegra, Easter and gastronomy events. In this place is the Town Hall, built in 1967 and linked by an arch to the clock tower, the Díaz-Cordovés Foundation and the Lord and the Building of Los Corredores.
Another of the emblematic places of Consuegra is its Castillo de la Muela cemented in the 10th century. In this castle the son of Cid Campeador died in the Battle of Consuegra in 1097. It belonged to private individuals until 1962, when its property rights passed onto the Town Hall.
Let´s not forget the varied cuisine of La Mancha like the great Manchego cheese from Consuegra, which belongs to the Manchego Cheese Protected Designation of Origin, one of the best in the region.
