Almost 47 million users used special and discretionary transportation in September. As for special transport, it increased by 7%. In this area, school and children transportation increased by 5.5% and the workforce occupation by 11%. On the other hand, the discretionary transport grew by 8.1% compared to the same month of 2018, with more than 19.9 million travellers. These figures make the coach/bus a key element in the mobility of cities. Precisely, the mobility is for many experts, the most important challenge facing cities in the 21st century. The sector knows the strategic position of the coach in the present and future of mobility. For this reason, companies, experts and institutions are analysing and managing the role of coaches in the transportation of people in their usual routes, as well as promoting the progress in efficiency and new technologies in new vehicle fleets by bus companies
I FECAV Conference on sustainable mobility
On the 26th of November, the Catalan Business Federation of Passenger Self-Transport organized the First FECAV Conference on “Tools for the transition towards sustainable mobility and the role of the bus”
This event dealt with issues related to the mobility in the capitals and between cities of the metropolitan area of those big cities. The talked about Smart Cities, technological projects, alternative energy sources and application of new technologies in mobility.
